New Character Archetype- The American
This game is about 7 months old now, and this is an addition to it that I first thought of shortly after the game was published. A while back I listened to a good audiobook of Bram Stoker's Dracula, and became really fond of a character who people rarely seem to remember, Mr. Quincy Morris. Quincy is a giant American stereotype, but one from a time when people in Europe seemed equal portions disgusted and amazed by those stereotypes (rather than, quite fairly, only the former).
Quincy begins as one of Ms. Lucy's many suitors, and remains a friend when she chooses another. From there, he becomes not just the friend of the other protagonists, but also the one they all look to when the situation becomes dangerous and calls for action. He regularly supplies the others with weapons, strategies, and a cool head under fire. In the end, Quincy dies heroically, and Jonathan and Mina Harker name their first son after him.
That blustery, tough, but ultimately dependable quality is what I was after with this Archetype. I'm expecting characters who play using it to be loud, and opinionated, and decisive. I struggled a lot with a name for the Archetype's Move, even though I found the direction for the mechanic pretty quickly. I hope you like the result!
